Therapeutic Exercise February 27, 2013

Therapeutic exercise is defined as bodily movement prescribed to correct an impairment, improve musculoskeletal function, or maintain a state of well-being. It may vary from highly selected activities restricted to specific muscles or parts of the body, to general and vigorous activities that can return a convalescing patient to the peak of physical condition. Therapeutic exercise seeks to accomplish the following goals: release contracted muscles, tendons, and fascia; mobilize joints, Improve circulation respiratory capacity, coordination and balance; reduce rigidity; promote relaxation, etc.
Before a patient begins physical fitness training or other strenuous therapeutic training, he/she should undergo a medical evaluation by a physician, including a comprehensive medical history, a thorough physical examination, and an adequate laboratory screening. After evaluation, our highly qualified physical therapists will determine the duration, frequency, intensity, and type of therapeutic exercise that bring you beneficial effects.
